Allenridge School Thembisa - Feb 2009

Hugh's Haven's Street Children's Fun Day at Lory Park Sanctuary - Nov 2008

Allenridge School Thembisa - June 2008

Allenridge Primary School , Thembisa – June 2008

Race Against Extinction sponsored the Grade 4, 5, 6 and 7 classes, all in all 400 students, to have a day of Conservation Education at Lory Park Sanctuary.

During the excursion the children were enthralled and had a new Awareness on the desperate need for Conservation, and introductions and explanations on all the animals.

Lory Park is approximately 11km away from Allenridge School. The students walked the entire distance. They were so very happy to have this day.

We will be sponsoring the Grade 1’s, 2’s and 3’s to also have an Conservation education day at the Sanctuary, however we are currently working on transport sponsorship as we do not want such young children to also walk the entire 11km.

The Allenridge students arrive after a long walk. On the far right is the principal of the school Mr. Dudley.

The Allenridge students come in.

The children are taught the difference between indigenous and exotic animals. Here they are at the monkeys’ enclosures. George explains how Squirrel Monkeys get their Protein.

After having been told how few Tigers are left in the wild, a student bends down and makes eye-contact with the beautiful cub. A new discovery.

Director Sharon Salomon feeds Benjamin.

Conservation. Education. Awareness.
