Educational Excursions

Sponsorship of rural students to have Conservation Education at Lory Park Sanctuary.

During the excursions children are enthralled and have a new Awareness on the desperate need for Conservation, and introductions and explanations on all the animals and the need to protect and conserve.

The ripple effect of Education cannot be emphasized enough.

Below are some examples of pictures from excursions with Allenridge Primary School , Thembisa. Lory Park is approximately 11km away from Allenridge School. The fist time we had the students from Allenridge - they had walked the entire distance. Starting at 6am in order to get to us by 9am. From when we found this out - we organize sponsorship of transport for the students.

The students are given a talk about Conservation of Endangered Animals, and get to interact a little with the Tiger cubs.

Enthralled by the beauty. The Education is enhanced by seeing the animals for real.

Students interacting after Educational talks.

The Children notice one of the Tortoises wondering around and excitedly meet him.

The children are taught the difference between indigenous and exotic animals. Here they are at the monkeys’ enclosures. George explains how Squirrel Monkeys get their Protein. After having been told how few Tigers are left in the wild, a student bends down and makes eye-contact with the beautiful cub. A new discovery.
After the Educational talks the Children meet the Lioness.
Some of the children pose with their teacher.

As the children leave they wave goodbye to the animals and to the camera, after a very happy and successful day!

Conservation. Education. Awareness.
