Fundraiser Soiree - May 2008

Violin Soiree and Opera Special – May 2008

Our first official Fundraiser, held at Dio Bacco, Norwood, on 8 th May 2008, was a great success!

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our cause.

After the Soiree and first course, talks were given on the urgent need for Conservation and Awareness; the need for Conservation of Tigers and other critically endangered animals, and on the desperate need for ecologically-friendly living.

Thank you to Victorian Garden, Esse and Mary-Ann’s for their generous donations to our eco-friendly gift-bags.

Everything in the bags promoted being earth-friendly and animal-friendly.

Timon Wapenaar on Violin and Margot Smyth on Cello entertained the guests with beautiful Sonatas by Jean-Marie Leclair

Sharon Salomon of Race Against Extinction gave a talk on the rapid decline of number of Tigers, and how South Africa – with some of the best eco-tourism and Conservation expertise in the world – can help with the Conservation of all critically endangered species around the world, not only indigenous species. We are, after all, in a global-village environment.

Dominic Moss of Johannesburg Zoo treated the guests to a beautiful slide-show on lessons learnt at the Zoo, after giving a fantastic eye-opening talk about the effects humans have had on the earth and animals, and how we will have to deal with the effects of the inevitable extinction of many animals and life-forms.

After the speeches Dewald von Solms treated the guests to his magical voice with some of the most beautiful Opera favorites, and then the beautiful main course was served.

All in all, it was a wonderful evening, filled with music, food and laughter, and most importantly Awareness.

Thank you again to Victorian Garden, Esse and Mary-Ann’s for their generous donations to our eco-friendly gift-bags.

Everything in the bags promoted being earth-friendly and animal-friendly.

Here’s to many more successful events giving a great ripple-effect to awareness and education.

Conservation. Education. Awareness.
